Our Impact
Bridge Builders
Hundreds of projects have impacted more than 250 communities. More than 12,500 Bridge Builders exist in Boston, Massachusetts, Florida, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut and California.
Challenger Sports
Our first Challenger Sports program was developed by Dorchester Baseball, enhanced by the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester and has become an example for other communities. This model provides a safe, fun way for young people with disabilities to participate in local sports with the assistance of peer-aged buddies.
Team MR8
Thousands of runners have reached more than 175 cities and towns, 35 states and 12 countries.
Team MR8 celebrated its final marathon season in 2023 as team veterans joined Martin’s brother, Henry, his teachers, coaches and friends in promoting his vision of fairness and his message, No More Hurting People, Peace.
We thank all of our runners who choose to Run For Martin to commemorate his love for community, friends, and family.
Service To The Community
Thousands of volunteers of all ages and abilities have packed custom kits for students, homeless shelters, food pantries, veterans and foster children in Boston and across the state. We are grateful for the work of our 50+ partner organizations whose compassion and dedication are immeasurable.
We urge you to stay connected and help those most in need of kindness. Follow our partners for volunteer opportunities in your community. Be a good neighbor! We can all do our part.
Since 2014
$10,000,000.00
By 2026, Martin Richard Foundation is projected to have granted over ten million dollars to local organizations. Our leadership has influenced the creation of Martin’s Park in the Seaport District of Boston, the Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice at BSU and the ongoing building project of a Dorchester Fieldhouse.
The generosity and kindness of our supporters is the engine that drives the impact of our work—we could not be more grateful for your trust in us.
WAYS TO GIVE
Practicing the values of peace, justice and kindness can have ripple effects throughout a community. If you feel inspired by our Foundation’s mission, we invite you to join our movement.
